As much as I love being the city girl that I am, sometimes the hustle and bustle can also get too overwhelming. For someone who thinks about everything all the time, it is impossible to find a decent time to just breathe and take it all in. So when my cousin invited me to visit Hatta and spend the day away from the city, I said yes, no questions asked.
The plan was to reach there before sunrise so we started our 134KM journey around 4 AM. Hatta lies on the south-east of the main city of Dubai bordering Oman. You can find the Al Hajar Mountains here which is actually the highest mountain range in the eastern Arabian peninsula.
Breakfast with a view. That’s one thing I’ve never had for a long time. It’s refreshing to see something like that especially for someone who’s surrounded by man-made World record-breakers. Although I’m physically exhausted, my inner self is jumping with joy. For a moment I was relaxed, able to breathe fresh air again.
After breakfast and some downtime, we decided to try to hike the mountains. You have 4 options on which trail to take— Green for the easy one, Blue for moderate, Red for difficult and Black for severe. Obviously, we took the Green trail (#beginnerlife) although I was so intrigued with Black. Sounds so deadly, doesn’t it? Anyway, a few minutes after taking the Green trail, we found a spot. And this is what happened next:
I am not supposed to even tell you this but after the photo session, nobody was willing to finish the trail. And may I remind you that it is the EASIEST one. No judging! Haha.
Long story short, we went back to the camp and waited a few hours for the Bikers to finish the Red trail. By the time they were done, everyone was so sleepy so we decided to head straight home instead of kayaking in the Dam. Make sure to try it when you do find yourself in Hatta. It is a 15-min drive from the camp and the rate is AED 60 (USD16) per person per ride. Make sure to check their timings here before you plan your visit.
It was a short yet satisfying trip and I would love to do it every weekend if I could!
